In the run up to Christmas, and under the ever-watchful eye of the credit crunch, the chance to save a bit of cash is a welcome one.

So if you're in the market for the new Call of Duty: World at War game, The Carphone Warehouse - of all places - is selling the game at a cut price for all consoles.

Of course, the store has taken this opportunity to push its "free console" offers with some phone contracts. But we'll let them off this time.

Call of Duty 5, will see you making your way across the Eastern front of World War II. coming into armed combat over 13 levels.

The successful multiplayer function brought in with Call of Duty 4 is accompanied by a new co-op mode to enable up to four players to be supported online and two offline.

Andrew Harrison, UK CEO at The Carphone Warehouse said: "As the current economic crisis continues, we're working even harder to bring our customers the latest in gaming at the best price on the high street."
