Majesco Entertainment, the publishers behind Wii and DS franchise Cooking Mama, has responded to PETA's criticism of the game earlier this week.

PETA released a browser-based game on Monday, parodying Cooking Mama and accusing the publishers of focusing too heavily on dishes that required meat. Or "dead animals" as the organisation so emotively put it.

However, Majesco Entertainment has released a statement in response, pointing out that there are a number of vegetarian recipes in the game.

"Cooking Mama World Kitchen includes more than 25 vegetarian-friendly recipes including delicious breakfast, dinner, dessert and snack options," read the company's statement.

"And, while Mama is not a vegetarian, she fully supports the humane treatment of animals."
