Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is working on a new project called Shoot, that will see a series of short films available for free download for PS3 and PSP.There will be six films in total, each made by a Hollywood award-winning filmmaker and an up-and-coming director of their choice from their country.
The films had to be based around one of a number of words that Sony says capture the "essence of PlayStation" - Play, Create, Share, Connect, Discover and Challenge.
Five of the up-and coming-directors were taken from across Europe, and one from Canada, with filmmakers such as Jerry Bruckheimer, Marc Rothemund and Michael Winterbottom as their mentors.
The directors also had access to leading actors from around the world and shot at locations from Pinewood Studios to New York City in an attempt to give the short films the same production standard as a Hollywood movie.
The emerging directors will showcase their movies in Berlin alongside the internationally recognised Film Festival in February 2009 and the project will culminate with an award ceremony for the best short film.
The Shoot! short movies will be available for download for PS3 and PSP users from 13th November, with each film coming with behind the scenes footage and interviews with the cast, crew and directors as well.
More information on Shoot! can be found at PlayStation Shoot website, where you'll be able to find out more on the six films and the directors involved. Gaming, PS3, PSP, Sony, Playstation Network
