Manhunt 2 hits UK shelves today

Heavy reworking gets banned game released

Controversial game Manhunt 2 finally sees its UK release today, a whole year after it was released in the US.

Although it proved to be a best-seller across the pond - and even then after some changes - the title was rejected twice by the British Board of Film Classification for its "casual sadism" and "unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone".

Rockstar appealed against its rejection late last year and won, but the BBFC challenged this and got the appeal overruled.

It was only following heavy reworking that the game was cleared for release on March 14th this year, and Rockstar decided to go ahead with a second Halloween release. A grisly date for a grisly game, it seems.

The game is available for the Wii, PS2 and PSP now.
