It seems its been quite the week for MMO crime. First two Dutch teens were convicted of virtual theft, and now a Japanese woman has been arrested after offing her virtual husband on the free MMO, MapleStory. The 43-year-old teacher was married to a man in the game, but reportedly became "furious at finding herself suddenly divorced" when he apparently finished the virtual marriage without warning.
So, to exact her revenge the woman got hold of the log-in details of the man playing her husband and deleted his character. A woman scorned and all that.
The woman is now being held in jail in Sapporo and could face charges of illegally accessing a computer and manipulating data. If found guilty she faces fines and a five-year jail sentence. It's not just a game folks... Gaming, PC games, MMORPG, Capcom, Racing games, Ascaron, Koch Media, Microsoft, Sony, Football games, EA, Nintendo, FIFA
