Sony is offering premium PS3 themes through the PlayStation Store starting today.

The free themes that have been running up until now will continue, however you'll now also have the option to pay a fee for a premium theme to customise the look of your PS3's XMB.

Smobile and Disruptive Media Publishers have partnered with Sony to make the themes, which Sony says range from "beauties on the beach to original cartoons and anime".

There is now a Premium Themes section under Themes and Wallpapers for you to access the content. There's a preview option so you can have a look at the themes a bit closer before purchasing.

Sony has said it plans to offer six to ten premium themes a month.
