HP announce red-eye fixing R707 camera

HP are to launch a new 5 mega pixel camera that will fix red-eye problems on the fly. The new launch comes on the back of an announcement that HP plan to invest $1 billion dollars (£500million) into its camera R&D department.

The HP Photosmart R707 digital camera supports the HP Instant Share, a technology similar to Kodak's EasyShare button that makes sharing, printing and saving digital photos easy. In addition, the HP Photosmart R707 digital camera offers a 24x total zoom (3x optical and 8x digital), 32 megabytes of internal storage and PictBridge.

The HP Photosmart R707 digital camera also features HP Real Life Technologies. These include an in-camera red-eye removal option that can correct pictures after they are taken, as well as HP's patented Adaptive Lighting technology, which automatically brightens selected areas of high contrast photos to give brighter, more true-to-life shots. An auto focus assist light also allows for sharp, clear pictures, even in low light situations.

The HP Photosmart R-series camera dock will allow users to share, print, e-mail and store photos and video clips again similar to the Kodak docking system. At the same time, the dock recharges the in-camera battery, in addition to an included spare battery via the dual charging bay. The HP Photosmart R-series camera dock also allows users to view digital photos on a TV with a wireless remote.

The HP Photosmart R707 digital camera and HP Photosmart R-series camera dock are expected to begin shipping in April and have estimated UK street price around the £279 mark.
