"Urban" music game gets rap heavyweight backing

Scratching game with Numark deck peripheral

Rap producer extraordinaire Quincy Jones III is backing a game called Scratch: The Ultimate DJ, being developed by Developer 7 Studios.

The rhythm action game is to also have a special deck peripheral designed and built by Numark. We're guessing this means it's going to be an "urban" version of Guitar Hero and others of that ilk.

This is backed up even more by the fact we're promised tracks from "top urban artists" although no tracks have been announced yet.

Quincy Jones, who has been in the industry for over 20 years and worked with all the big names in urban music, certainly seems excited about the new game.

He said: "With the recent success of music-driven videogames and the dominance of urban culture in the youth market, the potential for Scratch is endless."
