Two Mega Drive classics for Virtual Console this week

Earthworm Jim makes his comeback

Two Mega Drive classics are up for grabs on Virtual Console this week for your retro gaming pleasure.

Firstly, 90s gaming hero Earthworm Jim makes a return - the ordinary earthworm turned oversized, intelligent superhero thanks to a suit dropped from outer space. Your standard storyline then really.

You play Jim attempting to save Princess What's-Her-Name from the evil plans of Psy-Crow and Queen Slug-for-a-Butt. You'll run, shoot and - er - throw cows at the bad guys on your mission, meeting interesting characters on your way, such as Major Mucus, Chuck and Fifi, Evil the Cat and Bob the Killer Goldfish. Nice.

Secondly, you can get your hands on Shining Force II, where you'll play swordsman Bowie trying to save his kingdom Granseal, from certain doom.

A thief has stolen two jewels from the Tower of Ancients, setting in motion the resurrection of Zeon, the Devil King - which isn't good, in case you were wondering. Granseal's king falls sick, the princess is kidnapped and a door to Arc Valley, the Devil King's home, is opened. Also not good.

As Bowie, you'll lead the Shining Force to find the Holy Sword and stolen jewels, and protect Granseal against the invading armies of Zeon. All in a day's work really.

Both Earthworm Jim and Shining Force II are available now for 800 Wii Points each.
