Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning has clocked up over 500,000 players since its launch last week.

Mythic and EA have released the figures, which includes North America, Europe and the Oceanic region.

EA has very cleaverly labelled it "the fastest-selling new MMO of all time". The "new" being added in there as Rival Age of Conan had 700,000 accounts created a month of being on the shelves.

These figures take into account players who've registered copies of the game and started the 30 days' free play. Therefore, this doesn't necessarily mean that this players will become paying subscribers.

Analysts have predicted that around half of the 500,000 will actually become paying subscribers to Warhammer Online.

Still this doesn't dampen the spirits of those behind the game.

"In just one week we have a half a million people playing WAR online, and the ranks of Order and Destruction are growing at a record-breaking pace for a new MMORPG," said Mythic's Mark Jacobs.

It'll just be a matter of time to see if WAR surpasses analyst predictions.
