Spore sells one million copies in two weeks

And 25 million creations have been made by gamers

Despite the fact some analysts predicted Spore would sell two million units in September, over one million sales in just over two weeks is certainly nothing to sniff at.

EA announced these figures from the Will Wright's evolution-based game alongside the fact that 25 million creations now populate the Spore universe, including everything from creatures to buildings.

"Spore is a hit," said Frank Gibeau, president of the EA Games Label. "Will Wright's latest delivers an incredibly diverse game that appeals to casual gamers and the core alike. We're off to a great start moving into the holiday season and believe Spore will deliver a platform of creativity for gamers of all stripes for years to come."

It's not surprising that Spore nabbed the number one spot in the NPD listings of the best-selling PC games for the week of its release - it had already managed the grab second place the week before with its limited release. How long Spore manages to stay top of its game and prove the hype was justified, remains to be seen.
