Nintendo leads US hardware sales
Wii sales more than double those of PS3

NPD data has shown that Nintendo is dominating in hardware sales across the US, despite a slump in sales across the board
Both Wii and DS systems are powering past the competition, with the DS selling 608,000 units and the Wii selling 555,000 units.
Despite a drop in Wii sales by a rather neat 111,000, the sales the console has managed more than double the number of PS3s sold in the same period. PS3 sold 224,000 units - nearly 45% down on June - although it should be noted that June's sales were somewhat inflated due to the release of Metal Gear Solid 4. Sony's handheld PSP made even fewer sales than its big brother, with just 221,000 units sold.
Xbox 360 came in bottom of the next-gens, with 205,000 consoles sold, while oldie but goodie PS2 still managed to shift 156,000 units, despite being in its 8th year.
Funnily enough, although PS3 led 360 in the hardware sales, Microsoft's console topped the software sales with NCAA Football 09. The same game on the PS3 came in fifth. Soul Caliber IV for the Xbox also did better than the PS3 version. Interesting.
On the whole though, Wii dominated yet again, with four out of the top ten games sold being on its platform.
