Electronic Arts and Paramount Digital Entertainment have announced details of The Godfather II videogame.

Inspired by the film and Mario Puzo’s Corleone family drama, The Godfather II is set in the world of organised crime in 1960’s Florida, Cuba and New York.

Players see themselves as the Don of New York and have to expand to new cities as they build up their families through extorting businesses, monopolising illegal crime rings and defeating new families, in an attempt to become the most powerful mob family in America. Friendly.

As for how it looks, it is set in an open-world environment, and expands on the gameplay mechanics of the first game. It also features the series’ signature BlackHand control scheme, which now includes even more visceral hand-to-hand brutality at your fingertips, introducing a new combo system, pressure tactics and executions.

A trailer for the game will be available on August 18th on EA's Godfather 2 website, but you'll have to wait until sometime in February to get your hands on the full game. It's going to be released for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
