Ever since a group of clever pranksters fooled Rockstar's tech team into admitting a PC version of GTA IV was on its way a few weeks ago, the internet has been awash with talk as to when we could expect an official annoucement.

Rockstar caved today and has announced that PC gamers can look forward to the controversial game hitting their platform on 21st November in Europe.

North American gamers will get it just a few days earlier on November 18th.

GTA IV became the most lucrative entertainment launch of all time when it was released for the next-gen consoles PS3 and Xbox 360 in April. It seems the publishing company plan to strike while the iron is hot and push it out to further platforms.

"We are very excited to be releasing the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV," said Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games.

"The whole team is dedicated to bringing an amazing gaming experience to the PC. The game looks and plays beautifully on PC and we can't wait for people to play it," he added.

The game in its new format has been developed by series creator Rockstar North, with one altertation. This version includes a new-expanded, PC-exclusive multiplayer mode.

No word on prices as yet, but more when we get it. If you're interested in checking out the Rockstar prank that first started the rumours, check out the link.
