Sony has announced the WipEout HD has been delayed due to a "specific technical problem" but hopes that it will be out "before the end of the year.

David Reeves, the Sony Europe boss man, spoke about the delay earlier in the week, saying: "There is a specific technical problem with WipEout that we have to solve.

"I can't go into details but it is a really, really tricky technical problem that no region has been able to solve at the moment," said Reeves.

"I think it will come out before the end of the year but it is something that was just very difficult to get to grips with."

WipEout HD features eight tracks borrowed from the PSP games and made to look even prettier. There will also the online multiplayer capability and the promise of downloadable extra content. The game aims to run at 60 frames-per-second in 1080p.
