Expect "next generation" of SingStar at Leipzig

But Sony boss won't comment on Lips

Sony Europe boss David Reeves has kept tight lipped about his views on Microsoft's new karaoke game.

Lips, a rival to PlayStation's SingStar, was unveiled at E3, but when asked for his opinion on in at an event in Santa Monica on Wednesday Reeves opted for the deflection approach instead.

"If you come to Leipzig, you will see the next generation of SingStar," he told us. "That's all I will say."

And apparently, that really was. No such luck of getting a shocking quote about how rubbish Microsoft's version looks in comparison. Although we do quite like the shiny microphones.

SingStar has now sold more than 15 million units worldwide, a fact proudly publicised by Sony at its E3 press conference on Tuesday, with nearly 2 million songs downloaded via the PS3 versions.

The Leipzig Games Convention is just over a month away, so there's not too long to wait and see what Sony has in store.
