Sony to launch budget PS3 games in Europe

Platinum range makes its way over to the next-gen cousin

Sony is set to launch a budget range of games for the PS3 in Europe on August 1st.

The Platinum range will be sold at £19.99, and will include first-party games such as Resistance: Fall of Man, Heavenly Sword, MotorStorm, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Ratchet & Clank 3.

A number of third-party games are also geared up for the range including Virtua Tennis 3 from SEGA and Assassin's Creed from Ubisoft. We'll also see WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2008 follow these later in September.

SCEE boss David Reeves said "ten further titles" from third parties would then arrive "between September and the end of November".

"If you're a longstanding PS3 owner with gaps in your collection – or perhaps you've just joined the family – the PS3 Platinum range is your chance to pick up some of the very best games at a wallet-friendly price,” added Reeves.

"With great titles spanning a huge breadth of gaming experiences, this August is a great time to be a PS3 owner."

This wouldn't have anything to do with the fact the 80GB machine launches in August would it David?
