As ultimate fighting has grown in popularity in recent years, so has its popularity on gaming consoles.

THQ are the most recent gaming company to jump on the bandwagon, announcing their debut videogame based on the popular sport, UFC 2009 Undisputed, is in development.

Expected in spring 2009, THQ says the game will feature a comprehensive UFC atmosphere and an extensive roster of more than 80 of the best mixed martial arts fighters in the world across all five weight classes.

Photorealism is a top feature of this game, so alongside the usual blood, sweat and tears you get in fighting games, players will see ripple effects across the faces and bodies of their fighters from the impact of devastating punches and kicks.

THQ have also announced that there will be downloadable content for the game at a later stage, to help gamers to continually improve their gameplay experience.

You'll be able to get hold of the game on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
