Sony's PlayStation 3 has shown its strength in Japan by dominating Japanese hardware sales over the past week.

No doubt a big contributing factor to this was the the release of Metal Gear Solid 4, which sold 75,311 units for the week ending June 15th according to figures from Media Create.

The PSP also continues its reign as most popular handheld console, with 64,675 units sold. This is quite a headway over Europe's favourite - Nintendo DS - which only sold 39,201 units.

While the Wii followed third in the sales ranking at 64,675 sold, Microsoft's Xbox 360 was right at the bottom of the pile - shifting only 2163 consoles over the week.
