Microsoft says no new Xbox 360s in 2009

Spokeperson squashes the rumours

16 May 2008 13:06 GMT / By Verity Burns

It seems that the rumour about a slimmed down Xbox 360 console hitting our shelves next year was just a load of hot air.

No sooner had the story done the rounds on the Internet, than a Microsoft representative dismissed the idea, saying: "While we don't normally comment on rumours like this, we can tell you that we have no plans to release a new console in 2009".

So, just so we have it straight - no Blu-ray consoles, no slimmer consoles, and no funny named peripherals like "Lips" either, at least at the moment. Got it.

You never know though, rumours usually have a grounding from somewhere. But as Microsoft has gone out of its way to poo-poo them, read into that what you will.
