Under judge's orders

The Advertising Standards Authority has ordered a PC World TV advert be removed from broadcasting, after branding it as "misleading".

The ASA ruled that the advert could not appear again in its current form, after the ad made claims to the effect that the PS3 console could play all PS2 games.

In the advert for the 60GB PS3, the phrase "and it plays your PS2 games as well" was highlighted by the ASA as breaching CAP TV Advertising Standards Code rule 5.1 (misleading advertising).

The popular electronics retailer defended its advert, saying that the PS3 currently played 80% of PS2 titles and that future software patches would increase that number.

The ASA remained unconvinced and ordered that the advert be pulled.
