PlayStation 3 gamers in Canada have something to be pleased about, as Sony has announced price drops on PlayStation Network downloadable content as of 1 May.

Prices between Canada and America have been often mismatched – much to Canadian gamers' anger – but thanks to the strengthening of the Canadian dollar, Sony has decided to lower its prices to reflect the real value of Canadian cash.

In a statement Grace Chen, senior manager for the PlayStation Store said: "We are continually looking for ways to enhance the player experience on the Playstation Network, and downloadable content through the Playstation Store is just one of our areas of focus".

She added: "We anticipate that this price adjustment will meet the expectations of our Canadian consumers and provide them with a better Playstation Network experience".

The price adjustments will occur over the 24 hours and should be in full effect by the time the scheduled update hits on 2 May.
