But he's not headed for PS3

The furry creature that was once one of Sony's most steadfast mascots is back – but not everyone will be able to revel in his return.

Thanks to several screenshots and a press release that's been leaked on to the Internet, it seems the rumour of Crash Bandicoot’s return to our consoles is in fact true, in a new adventure called "Mind over Mutant".

But can Crash win back the hearts of gamers after several sub-standard performances in recent years?

The press release states: "In Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant, a rejuvenated Neo Cortex is taking over the world one brain at a time! Cortex and N. Brio devise a new kind of evil; a text-messaging, do-anything device which controls both mutant and bandicoot minds. Armed with his quick-wits and lightning agility, Crash must free his friends, the titans and save the day".

The game is due to launch across PS2, PSP, Wii, Nintendo DS and Xbox 360 platforms – but strangely not the PS3.

Still, there are new features to keep every other console owner interested, including a co-op mode featuring Crash's sister Coco and plenty of new abilities that'll have you digging underground and scaling rocks. No release date as yet though, we'll keep you updated.
