Tesco's Dell Mini 10 really just Dell Mini 9

Customers getting common-or-garden 9-inch version instead

Shoppers snapping up Dell's Mini 10 netbook from Tesco are reporting receiving a nasty surprise when the new netbook arrives in the post.

Although yet to be officially offered by Dell, Tesco seemed to have jumped the gun and listed the new 10-inch netbook announced at CES for £345 on its website.

However less than a week later and customers are finding that all is not what it seemed.

Instead of the 10-inch version as promised users appear to have been given the already commonly available 9-inch version.

"OK, just took delivery of the Mini 10...except it isn't a Mini 10. Tesco have sent a Mini 9 instead - all the usual specs for a Win XP Mini 9, 8.9 inch display, 1Gb RAM, 8Gb SSD, etc. So this is going back tomorrow for a refund", said NickJ on mydellmini.com's forum.

Another member of the forum, gsullymorgan, experienced a similar problem:

"I ordered mine on Weds and collected it from Tescos last night. Sadly they'd sent me a Mini 9 too (which is showing on their site now as discontinued) and now, of course, it's out of stock".

Tesco clearly alerted to the problem has removed the listing from its website.

The 10-inch WSVGA-screened netbook middles off Dell's current range, coming between the 8.9-inch 9 and the 12-inch Mini 12.

Specs include a 1.33Ghz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive. Other features include Bluetooth, a built-in webcam, memory card reader, three USB ports and 802.11b/g Wi-Fi. The little laptop, that runs Microsoft Windows XP, measures 18.25 x 26.1 x 2.8cm and weighs in at 1.3kg.
