Acer launches 10-inch Aspire One

Acer has announced the UK launch of its all-new 10-inch Aspire One netbook.
Weighing at just over a kilo the 10-inch model offers a new form factor that Acer says "provides the best combination of ultra-portability and maximum screen size for navigation and data input".
The netbook is available with a 6-cell battery that Acer claims is good for 7 hours on the go, is equipped with an Intel Atom processor, offers 160GB hard drive and can be bought with up to 2GB of DDR memory.
Claiming that "netbooks have totally revolutionized the PC market" the new Aspire One offers a WSVGA LED backlit display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, Acer Crystal Eye webcam, card reader, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth with certain models available with WiMAX or 3G connectivity.
The Aspire One comes with Windows XP Home operating system with Acer eRecovery Management, Acer Launch Manager, Adobe Reader, McAfee Internet Security Suite, Microsoft Office Trial 2007 also preinstalled.
"Despite the recent problems of the financial markets and general economic uncertainty, the netbook and notebook markets will continue to grow in 2009", said Gianfranco Lanci, president and CEO, Acer.
"With companies focused on containing the crisis, consumers and products designed for them become more important as users simply cannot do without their personal communication instruments".
The new device will be available in four high-gloss colour options including white, blue, red and black, we're waiting for pricing to be confirmed but expect it to be from £299.
UPDATE: Acer has confirmed the a mid Feb launch priced from £299.
