Toshiba has launched the Satellite A350, described as a new, "premium-quality" multimedia laptop and the company's first model in the 16-inch category.

Toshiba says the 16-inch widescreen display is custom-built for optimum movie playback, featuring a 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1366 x 768 with Toshiba's TruBrite tech.

The A350 offers integrated Harmon Kardon speakers and supports Dolby Sound Room technology, for what's claimed to be a "true surround-sound feel".

Powered by either Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Turion processors, all models offer a standard 4GB of DDR2 RAM, with hard disk drive capacity of up to 320GB.

Others specs of note include an integrated Super-Multi DVD drive, three USB ports, a 1.3-megapixel webcam and microphone while Draft-N wireless compatibility and Bluetooth are available on certain models.

With a high gloss "Cosmic Black" chassis with silver-striped "Fusion" accenting, and a row of white illuminated LED buttons, the Satellite A350 is available to buy now with pricing at £529, £599 and £749 dependent on spec.
