Canon has announced the new "affordable" PowerShot A480, the latest in its range of easy-to-use point and clicks.

The 10-megapixel camera replaces the popular A470, and offers a new build and design that is 25% smaller than its predecessor. It features a 3.3x optical zoom, 2.5-inch LCD screen and a movie mode for 30fps VGA movie clips.

There is also face detection technology that registers up to nine faces and motion detection that helps you capture moving subjects without blur, not to mention 15 different shooting modes as well.

As it is aimed towards the beginner side of the market, it features a simple button layout and easy interface, and comes in a choice of blue, silver, red or black.

The PowerShot A480 will be available in February for £129.
