Sharp launches 82-inch LCD display

CES 2009: Filling the gap between 65- and 108-inchers

9 January 2009 15:52 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Sharp has announced what it says is the world's first 82-inch class Full HD 1080p LCD monitor.

The Japanese company says this particular size category was developed "to fill the space" between the 65- and the 108-inchers.

The LC-82MX1U, for "the true home theater enthusiast", features the next generation of Sharp’s proprietary 10-bit Advanced Super View Black TFT Panel, which claims to provide deep blacks and crisp picture quality.

The LC-82MX1U also features Fine Motion Enhanced technology for 120Hz Frame Rate Conversion, a response time of 4ms and Sharp's Spectral Contrast Engine XD.

Complete with HDMI and DVI-I connectors, pricing and availability is no doubt on a if-you-have-to-ask basis.

  • Hi, I would buy one when it became available. Sharp bring it into the main stream market. NOW. It is the size roughly of a projector screen so why would anyone but anything else. The price will have to be resonable otherwise it will not be worth it. Posted by TAG HEUER, AUSTRALIA
