Samsung HT-BD8200 brings Blu-ray to soundbar

CES 2009: With wireless subwoofer

Samsung announced today an update to their range of soundbars at CES in Las Vegas, with the HT-BD8200 adding a Blu-ray player into the mix.

Bringing in features found in previous Samsung soundbars, the HT-BD8200 also features a wireless subwoofer, adding to the "virtual 5.1 surround sound".

Designed to be wall mounted, the new soundbar is only 2.6-inches deep, but packs in all the technologies you’d expect to round out your home cinema package if you choose not to go for the conventional surround sound system.

Featuring b/g/n Wi-Fi and the Profile 2.0 Blu-ray player, it will give you the Full HD experience, with the benefits of BD-Live, for connecting to interactive disc features and additional content, and also giving you access to Netflix for streaming video or Pandora for music.

You also get support for your other music and imaging devices either through the included USB port or via Bluetooth. There is also the ubiquitous iPod dock for the ultimate party piece.

Prices and availability to be confirmed.
