Free Beatles tracks pulled

"Too good to be true"

"Some thought this was too good to be true", NRK, the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation said in its blog. "And it was".

Norway's public broadcaster has pulled the downloadable podcasts containing "free" songs from the Beatles, citing a licensing issue.

The 212-episode series - "Our Daily Beatles" - made headlines earlier this week for its digital Fab Four tuneage, free, as long as downloaders were prepared to navigate the three proceeding minutes of Norwegian chat.

But it seems the broadcaster had not checked the small print of the IFPI licensing arrangement which meant the podcasts had to have been aired within four weeks, something the station has been quoted as calling "lame".
