Asus Eee keyboard unveiled

CES 2009: Full blown PC hidden inside

7 January 2009 7:44 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Asus has unveiled a new prototype PC keyboard, that actually has a PC built into it, before the official start of CES in Las Vegas.

The Eee Keyboard will be, say Asus, the first wireless media centre enabled by ultra wideband HDMI meaning television owners could have a media centre PC in their living room streaming wirelessly without the need for a bulky PC.

The Asus Eee Keyboard will also feature Wi-Fi, Ethernet, speaker, mic, and a 5-inch touchscreen display when it eventually gets launched.

Confirmed as a near-final version prototype the company has yet to put a date or price on the new keyboard but some expect it to come sooner rather than later.

Featuring a very "Apple" design, the keys will be black inset in a silver metal casing.

We will keep you posted.
