Pentax announces E70 camera for beginners

Large control buttons for easier use

Pentax has announced another compact camera to be added to the Optio range, in the shape of the E70.

Featuring large control buttons and an easy user interface with larger icons, the E70 is aimed at those who may be new to digital cameras.

Although the beginner status of the camera is visible in some features, such as being powered by AA batteries rather than rechargables, it has many of the features of other Pentax cameras.

The E70 boasts 10-megapixels, a 3x optical zoom, a 2.4-inch LCD screen and video capability as well. There's also the triple anti-shake protection, Auto Picture mode for automatic selection of seven different shooting modes and face recognition.

Finally, there is "Green mode", which is a completely worry-free mode for complete beginners. Push a button on the back of the camera and the "Green mode" selects the optimum combination of exposure settings, ISO sensitivity and other factors depending on conditions.

There have been no price or date details released as yet, but we'll be sure to get them to you as soon as we have them.
