SanDisk Ultra Backup USB drive offers backup on the go

CES 2009: Plus more USB storage options

6 January 2009 6:51 GMT / By Stuart Miles

SanDisk has launched a USB flash drive that comes with backup software included so you can back up your PC at the press of a button.

The SanDisk Ultra Backup USB portable flash drive as it will be called is the first offering of the company’s new SanDisk Ultra USB product line and will come in sizes up to 64GB.

Those worried about installing software needn't be. According to the memory card maker, no software installation is needed while security is offered in the guise of a dual layer of security, including password-protected access control and ultra-secure AES hardware-based encryption.

Available in April, the SanDisk Ultra Backup drive will be available in capacities of 8GB-64GB and cost between $39.99 and $199.99. No UK pricing has been set.

The company has also announce a new SanDisk Cruzer USB flash drive and the SanDisk Extreme Contour that promises "increased security protection and higher performance levels".

Also available in April the SanDisk Cruzer drive will be available in capacities of 4GB-32GB and cost between $24.99 and $99.99. The SanDisk Extreme Contour USB flash drive is available in major retailers today.
