Husqvarna launches Automower Solar Hybrid

CES 2009: Solar-powered robotic lawn cutter

6 January 2009 11:20 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Due to be showcased at this week's CES event, Husqvarna's new Automower Solar Hybrid is a fully robotic lawn mower partly powered by the sun that uses no fuel or oil.

Combining solar power with electricity, Husqvarna says the Solar Hybrid mower has less impact on the environment and is easy to program.

Designed to handle lawns of up to a half acre, the robotic mower works on the same basis as similar models, with perimeter wires staking out the area that needs to be cut.

Programmable via a timer, and auto-charging, the Automower Solar Hybrid is available in the States for $2999.95.
