Argos has broken the £100 price barrier for a Blu-ray player, by offering one for £97.86.

Down from its recommended retail price of £299.99, the budget Bush BD01 is currently less than half price.

With no advanced Blu-ray bits such as BD-Live, the black player offers Dolby stereo sound, HDMI, and the ability to upscale ordinary discs to 1080p.

There's also photo playback with JPEG suport, as well as playback of CDs, MP3 and WMA files.

The cut-price model is only offered at the sub-£100 price point until 6 January, and in limited numbers, so you'll need to act soon to nab one.
