Nokia relieved its fans by showing us that the 5800 XpressMusic was not the only touchscreen phone it had up its sleeve with the launch of the high-end N97, the company's new flagship device with specs to rival - and even beat - other company's offerings. With a 3.6-inch touchscreen, full slide out QWERTY keyboard, up to 48GB of storage, 5-megapixel camera, HSDPA and WLAN connectivity the device looks to tick all the boxes - the only thing left to be seen is whether the phone's planned first half of 2009 debut will be in enough time to grab a decent market share.
Nikon chose the start of December to unveil the D3X DSLR, a £5500 serious snapper while BlackBerry took a step back from the Storm with the launch of the more modest little Curve 8900.
Questions were asked about the IWF's methods after Wikipedia got black-listed for child porn due to a dubious album cover from years ago while Stephen Fry got Twitter in the headlines with his foul-mouthed tirade on the microblogging site about the inadequacies of Vista.
The month is coming to a close with rumours about potential launches at January's CES and MacWorld events making headline news. Will Apple bring in the new year with an iPhone nano? Is Sony's new "mobile" Vaio a netbook?
One thing is certain for 2009, Pocket-lint will continue to bring you the latest and best news from the technology and gadget world, so thanks for being with us in 2008 and stay tuned next year.
