Undercuts Apple by a couple of dollars

iPhone goes on sale at Wal-Mart

In the States, the iPhone has gone on sale at Wal-Mart, but not at the previously rumoured low price, or with any different memory capacity.

Earlier reports had suggested that the US retailer would offer the Apple mobile for $99, possibly selling a 4GB version of the phone, but this is not the case with the device being offered from $197.

Undercutting Apple by a matter of dollars, the 8G model is on sale for $197 (Apple sells it for $199) while the 16GB model will cost $297 at Wal-Mart (Apple has a $299 price tag). Both require a two-year contract from AT&T.
