Credit Crunch Christmas: Freesat
Pocket-lint's Advent calendar of gift ideas: 4 days to go

Today's Credit Crunch Christmas suggestion of Freesat is for those who are buying for someone trying to save some pennies, or are themselves tightening the purse strings.
There are various options available, including standard definition boxes for around £50, but our suggestion is the Bush high definition Freesat set top box currently available from Argos for £117.
The idea is if you or someone you know already has an existing satellite dish and possibly an expensive Sky subscription, this set top box would mean you can cancel this, but still receive HD television from the BBC and ITV.
As well as this you get over 140 other TV and radio channels, which is set to increase month on month giving you a wider choice as time goes on.
The best bit however is that there is no subscription, so one initial payment, plus setup costs, means you're sorted - and saving - in 2009.
