Marantz launches IS301 hand-held iPod dock

19 December 2008 16:13 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Marantz has launched the IS301, a hand-held iPod dock for those that enjoy their iPhone and iPod touch's tactile charms so much they don't want to put them down.

This "ingenious" new hand-held device lets you roam free with your iPod or, if placed in the Marantz cradle, the iPod will be charged and can connect iTunes.

The Marantz IS301 package includes a detachable Bluetooth-equipped module adapter that plugs into your 'pod and sends audio information, via A2DP Bluetooth to the docking station.

In turn, the docking station needs to be connected to your hi-fi via a supplied receiver unit. This set-up lets you control the Apple device as usual.

The Marantz IS30 works with iPods other than the touch or the iPhone and is also compatible with "almost" any A2DP-supporting mobile, it will be available from January 2009 for £220.
