Facebook boasts 140 million users

Social networking site has stat attack

Facebook now boasts more than 140 million active users, according to a whole host of official stats released from the site.

And, it seems that the site has grown up from its Harvard roots with more than half of Facebook users outside of college, and the fastest growing demographic is those 25 years old and older with 70% of users from outside the US.

An average user on Facebook has 100 friends on the site with more than 13 million users updating their statuses at least once a day.

Facebook has also revealed that more than 700 million photos, and four million videos, are uploaded to the site each month with 15 million pieces of content shared on a monthly basis.

With 19 million active user groups, the site sees two million events created each month with over 52,000 applications currently available on the Facebook platform.

And finally, worldwide, 2.6 billion minutes are spent on Facebook each day.
