3D games and video without the need for special glasses could be coming to a computer screen near you according to one Canadian company.

Debuting at Macworld in San Francisco in January 2009, the Wazabee 3DeeFlector is an autostereoscopic overlay that will fit over any 13.3-inch laptop screen, such as Apple's MacBook Air, allowing you to view 3D images.

But it's not just laptops that will be able to show 3D content. Spatial View, the company behind the invention has said that it has also created a case for the iPhone and iPod touch, as well as 19-inch monitors for gaming fans.

Called the Wazabee 3DeeShell the bolt-on screen and case for the iPhone will be displayed for the first time at Macworld 2009. The Wazabee 3DeeShell is tentatively scheduled to ship in early Q2 2009.

According to its makers the "Wazabee 3DeeShell depicts 3D content such as games, pictures and videos on the Apple iPhone in an extraordinarily realistic way".

To help show off the screen technology the company has created three iPhone apps allowing users to view 3D shapes, download images and even take their own with the iPhone.

Pocket-lint will be attending Macworld with live coverage from the showfloor as it happens.

  • So is this just going to be for Mac based machines then?

If so it's a pity, just think of the possibilities of a multitouch Android based 3d phone!
