Apple has released an update for its OS, version 10.5.6 just before Christmas with the usual promise of bug fixes and software enhancements.

The new update, which will weigh in anywhere between 190MB and 377MB depending on the state of your operating system is recommended for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard versions 10.5, 10.5.1, 10.5.2, 10.5.3, 10.5.4, and 10.5.5 say Apple.

New features include reliability issues with the iPhone and Airport connections as well as general improvements to gaming performance.

Apple has also said that the 10.5.6 update fixes "Contacts, calendars, and bookmarks on a Mac automatically sync within a minute of the change being made on the computer, another device, or the web at me.com".

Elsewhere the new update adds a Trackpad System Preference pane for portable Macs.

Mac users can download the update via the Software Update link in the standard Apple menu on their desktop.
