Lenovo's Android-based OPhone revealed

12 December 2008 15:44 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

No word on specs yet, just a pretty picture of Lenovo's "OPhone", apparently it's an Android-based offering produced in conjunction with China Mobile. Presumably it's full touch (unless there's a slide-out keyboard, but that looks doubtful from the pic) it seems this is due to stay within the Great Wall.

Why do we need a Slide-out keyboard on mobile anyway? They are old school tech that have existed for years. Plus they made your mobile twice as thinker. I personally would prefer to have the latest micro projection function on my handset, or else you can shave your bear with it, use it as hair dryer, electrocute random people etc.

  • The G1 does not have an onscreen touch keyboard, so the lack of a slide-out keyboard suggests that Lenovo has developed a onscreen touch keyboard to work with Android, obviously more than possible considering the open nature of the OS. Posted by elliott, United Kingdom
  • This looks great but I'd love a fold/slide out keyboard you can't beat real keys and if I want to do anything internet based (browsing or email) then a numeric keypad just won't do. Posted by Craig Thomas, UK
