It seems Acer has beaten Asus to the netbook top slot in the third quarter of 2008, despite Asus having more model variants than you could shake a stick at.

According to DisplaySearch's quarterly report, Acer achieved a market share of 38.3% versus Asus' 30.3%.

Acer shipped 2.15 million units of its Acer Aspire One to Asus' 1.7 million units of its various Eee PC models.

HP came third with the Mini-Note 2133 selling 330,000 units while MSI shipped 320,000 Winds.
