Aston Martin is likely to be the first UK company to use Microsoft's Surface device to help it sell the £160,000 cars.

The application, created by London design agency Splendid, will use the interactive coffee table that was announced earlier in the year to be used to show prospective customers what their car will look like with different options.

The application, which is based on a similar version designed for the Aston Martin's website will let users see the cars in different paint jobs, with different wheels and from all angles and sides.

Using the system, salespeople will be able to put "tagged" paint cards down on the Surface and the device automatically change the colour on the display.

Splendid's MD Paul Bishop told Pocket-lint that he believes the touchscreen devices that run Windows Vista will be in showrooms sometime next year.

We will keep you posted.
