Virgin Mobile has announced the launch of Windows Live Messenger service for their new and existing customers on selected handsets.

Virgin Mobile will provide the service, either pre-loaded or downloadable, onto a customer’s mobile, and it will be free for six months.

Virgin Mobile's Instant Messenger product will debut on four handsets; the Samsung U600, the Samsung G600, the Nokia 6300 and also the Sony Ericsson W910i as a pre-load.

Virgin Mobile plans to announce further compatible handsets in the New Year. After the free six months Virgin says the cost for the service will be assessed "but remain competitive".
