Vodafone has confirmed to Pocket-lint that a BlackBerry Enterprise Server version of the Storm will ship on Monday 8 December.

The new version, designed for corporates rather than consumers will give corporate customers full support to run Microsoft Exchange on the device.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server is server software that integrates with Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino or Novell GroupWise.

BlackBerry provides users with secure access to their corporate email, as well as additional features including corporate data access, wireless email and calendar synchronisation and remote address lookup. Other features include attachment viewing, enabling your Out Of Office and secure internet access through your corporate environment.

Corporate customers supposedly received emails on Friday saying that the devices would be posted to them next week.

Rumours had been circulating that Enterprise customers, the bulk of BlackBerry customers around the world, would have to wait until 2009 before getting their hands on a BES version of the Storm.

In related news RIM has also released a new version of the OS software that plans to fix a number of bugs seen by some users.

A Vodafone spokesperson has told Pocket-lint that the new BES Storm versions will be shipping with the new .76 software.
