Medion confirm Akoya P8610 for UK

Dolby, Nvidia and Blu-ray onboard

4 December 2008 20:20 GMT / By Chris Hall

Originally seen at IFA this year, Medion today announced the UK price for its new desktop replacement model. The P8610 is packed with home entertainment technology and offered at a credit crunch defying £799.

The new notebook features an 18.4-inch, 16:9, 1680 x 945 pixel display, runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, backed by 4GB RAM and a 320GB hard drive. But the real headline features are the Dolby Home Theater technology, with the Nvidia GeForce 9600M GS powering the graphics and the Blu-ray player.

Naturally as your new HD best friend, it features an HDMI for hooking-up to your home cinema setup or HD TV, and an ExpressCard DVB-T tuner with remote control to round out the package.

Touch controls on the left-hand side of the deck provide convenient media functions, whilst the laptop also employs Hybrid SLI and HybridPower support to get the most from your battery should you be away from your power source.

The new notebook will not be appearing in stores (that we know of) but will be available next week from Tesco Direct and Blockbuster, as well as Medion’s online shop.

£799, get ‘em whilst they’re hot!
