NORAD, Google to offer "Santa Tracker"

Complete with Santa-cams

2 December 2008 16:30 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Gone are the days of rosy-cheeked children peering excitedly out of their bedroom windows for a glimpse of Father Christmas and his reindeers on Christmas Eve, it seems nowadays kids just need log on and check out a Santa-cam online.

This high tech affront to the traditional Christmas Eve ritual, the "Santa Tracker", comes from NORAD, the suitably sinister sounding North American Aerospace Defense Command in conjunction with Google.

Obviously saving parents from having to muster any kind of imagination, NORAD will track Santa's progress on Christmas Eve with links to follow his route in Google Maps and Google Earth as well as see footage from "Santa cams".
