Today's gift idea from our Credit Crunch Christmas list is an ideal present for any music fan you know, that will - to use a cliche - keep on giving for the whole of 2009.For a one-off charge of £99.99 (we know it sounds steep - but wait) Datz Music Lounge is offering a year's worth of unlimited downloads at no further cost. So, someone who is regularly downloading tracks at around 79p each, or buying albums from a fiver up, could save quite a bit.
All tracks are in the MP3 format and DRM-free, so they can be sideloaded to any other device, and according to the website there are "millions of songs from thousands of artists" from the Beggars Group, EMI Music, The Orchard and Warner Music with more labels said to be joining soon.
A gift box, that contains the Music Lounge CD and USB key is available from Sainsbury's and Smiths, as well as direct from Datz, and could make a good main present for your music-loving mate.
UPDATE: As of 09/09/09 this service has shut down, although reports suggest the box sets may still be available to buy. Audio, Music downloads, Xmas2008, Datz
